ตั้งแต่ต้นปี 2566 ที่ผ่านมาการจัดเทศกาลในย่านนั้นกลับมาจัดกิจกรรมได้อีกครั้ง เนื่องจากสถานการณ์การแพร่ระบาดของโควิดที่มีแนวโน้มที่ดีขึ้น และการผ่อนปรนมาตรการเองที่เปลี่ยนไป ส่งผลให้ในเมืองตอนนี้มีความคึกคักและมีชีวิตชีวา และผู้คนเองก็ออกมาใช้ชีวิตและทำกิจกรรมในพื้นที่สาธารณะกันมากขึ้น
ปฏิเสธไม่ได้ที่เปลี่ยนไปเลยว่าการจัดเทศกาลเป็นหนึ่งในกลไกที่จะสามารถส่งเสริมให้พื้นที่ในเมืองมีชีวิตชีวามากขึ้น การจัดเทศกาลต่าง ๆ ในเมืองเป็นการเปิดโอกาสให้ผู้คนได้สัมผัสกับประสบการณ์ที่แตกต่างไปของพื้นที่นั้น ๆ และเป็นการส่งเสริมให้พื้นที่ที่อาจจะไม่เคยได้รับการใช้งานให้กลายเป็นพื้นที่ใหม่ในเมืองที่จะสามารถเป็นพื้นที่เพื่อนันทนาการของคนเมืองต่อไปได้ ซึ่งการที่จะจัดกิจกรรมและเทศกาลเพื่อส่งเสริมย่านสร้างสรรค์ให้เกิดขึ้นได้นั้น จำเป็นจะต้องได้รับความร่วมมือจากหลากหลายภาคส่วน
ย้อนดูตลอดครึ่งปีที่ผ่านมาว่า Urban Studies Lab และ FREC ที่ได้รับการสนับสนุนจาก Ford Thailand นั้น เราได้จัดกิจกรรมสร้างสรรค์เพื่อส่งเสริมพื้นที่สาธารณะในเมือง ผ่านงานเทศกาลออกแบบกรุงเทพฯ ประจำปี 2023 (Bangkok Design Week 2023) อะไรไปบ้าง และจะนำไปต่อยอดอย่างไรต่อไปในอนาคต
Since the beginning of 2023, various festivals and events in the city have returned to neighborhoods, as the Covid-19 situation has improved and prevention measures also have been relaxed, bringing vibrant and liveliness back to the neighborhood. People are now engaging in activities and being able to enjoy their outdoor-life again.
It’s undeniable that the urban festivals play a significant role in fostering a liveliness of the neighborhood, provide more opportunities for people to experience the unique identities of each area and also transform underutilized spaces into new vibrant areas for future recreational space in the city. However, organizing events and festivals to promote creative neighborhoods requires collaboration from various stakeholders. Looking back over the past half year, the Urban Studies Lab and FREC, supported by Ford Thailand, have organized creative activities to enhance public spaces in the city. Through the Bangkok Design Week 2023, we have sparked creativity and contributed to the development of public areas, and how we can carry this momentum forward into the future.

สำรับที่จะบอกเล่าเรื่องราวของย่านนางเลิ้งผ่านเมนูอาหาร
ย่านนางเลิ้งเป็นหนึ่งในย่านเมืองเก่าที่สำคัญอีกย่านหนึ่งในกรุงเทพมหานคร เป็นอีก 1 แลนด์มาร์กสำคัญขึ้นชื่อเรื่องย่านที่เต็มไปด้วยร้านเด็ดร้านดังมานานหลายทศวรรษ Urban Studies Lab ได้จัดกิจกรรมนางเลิ้งเคี้ยวเพลิน คุยมันส์ ไปเมื่อปลายปี 2565 ซึ่งเป็นกิจกรรมการจัดเก็บข้อมูลในย่านในรูปแบบใหม่ ที่ได้ทั้งความสนุกสนาน ได้เพลิดเพลินกับอาหารร้านดัง อีกทั้งยังได้ข้อมูลเชิงลึกจากร้านอาหารในย่านด้วย
จากกิจกรรมในครั้งนั้นต่อเนื่องมาจนถึงปี 2566 เราจึงนำข้อมูลและเรื่องราวของร้านอาหาร นำมาสื่อสารด้วยภาพ เพื่อให้บุคคลทั่วไปสามารถเรียนรู้ย่านนางเลิ้งในมุมมองใหม่ที่ไม่เคยได้รู้ ออกมาเป็น “สำรับนางเลิ้ง” สำรับการ์ดที่สื่อสารเรื่องราวของร้านอาหารผ่านมุมมองของเจ้าของร้านที่อยากจะแนะนำตัวตนของร้านให้ทุกคนรู้จัก สำรับนางเลิ้งจึงเป็นตัวแทนในการบอกเล่าเรื่องราวของย่าน รวมถึงช่วยส่งเสริมการกระตุ้นเศรษฐกิจและธุรกิจขนาดเล็กในย่าน ผ่านการทำให้ร้านค้าเป็นี่รู้จักและเชื้อเชิญคนเข้ามาในร้านค้าได้มากขึ้น
Nang Loeng is one of the significant historic districts in Bangkok, known for its vibrant and renowned establishments that have been around for decades. In late 2022, the Urban Studies Lab organized an event called "Nang Leong Feast and Fun," which aimed to collect data in a new and enjoyable way. Participants had a great time indulging in delicious food from famous restaurants while gathering in-depth insights about the neighborhood.
Following that event, we continued gathering data and stories throughout 2023, and we decided to communicate the essence of the neighborhood through visualization. This resulted in the creation of "Nang Loeng Menu," a card set that tells the stories of the restaurants from the perspective of their owners, who wanted to introduce their establishments to a broader audience. The Nang Leong Menu serves as a representative, sharing the narratives of the neighborhood while also stimulating the local economy and small businesses by making the restaurants more recognizable and inviting, it encourages more people to visit and support these restaurants.

พื้นที่สาธารณะที่เคลื่อนที่ได้ จากรถเข็นปลดระวางจากโรงงานของ Ford Thailand นำมาสร้างเป็นพื้นที่สาธารณะเล็กๆที่สามารถติดตั้งเข้าได้กับทุกบริบทของพื้นที่ ไม่ว่าจะเป็น พื้นที่นั่งเล่น พื้นที่สวนครัว พื้นที่สีเขียวเพื่อการสันทนาการ เนื่องจากพื้นที่นางเลิ้งเองเป็นพื้นที่ที่มีความซับซ้อนของการถือกรรมสิทธิ์ที่ดิน ดังนั้นการจัดสรรที่ดินเพื่อการทำพื้นที่สาธารณะต่าง ๆ ในชุมชนจึงเป็นไปได้ยาก
Park pods จึงเป็นแนวทางการออกแบบที่นำเสนอพื้นที่สาธารณะแก่ชุมชนในรูปแบบใหม่ ส่งเสริมให้เกิดการใช้ประโยชน์พื้นที่เล็ก ๆ ในชุมชนที่อาจจะถูกมองข้าม ขับเคลื่อนให้สามารถเกิดการจัดตั้งพื้นที่สาธารณะของชุมชนต่อไปได้ในอนาคต และทำให้คนในชุมชนตระหนักถึงความสำคัญและประโยชน์ของการมีพื้นที่สาธารณะเหล่านี้ในชุมชนด้วย
Park Pods are mobile public spaces created from recycled Ford Thailand Manufacture factory trolleys. These small movable public spaces can be installed in various contexts, whether it's a seating area, a kitchen garden, or a green space for recreation. Since Nang Loeng itself is a complex area with intricate land rights, allocating land for different types of public spaces within the community is challenging.
Park Pods offer a new design approach that presents public spaces to the community, promoting the utilization of small spaces that might otherwise be overlooked. They drive the establishment of future community public spaces and raise awareness among community members about the importance and benefits of having such public spaces within their neighborhood.

โปรเจคที่ปรับเปลี่ยนพื้นที่โรงเรียนสตรีจุลนาค โรงเรียนเก่าแก่ของย่านนางเลิ้งที่ไม่ได้มีการใช้งานแล้ว ให้กลับมามีชีวิตชีวาอีกครั้ง ผ่านการจัดนิทรรศการสร้างประสบการณ์แปลกใหม่ โดยการใช้ออกแบบ Experience and Interactive lighting design โดยกลุ่มศิลปิน Kimbab :) and friends เชิญชวนให้ผู้เยี่ยมชมได้รู้สึกหวนระลึกถึงประสบการณ์ในวัยเรียนอีกครั้ง
จากนิทรรศการ Enlighten Nang Loeng Presented by FORD ครั้งนี้ ทำให้ผู้ที่มาเยี่ยมชม ได้พบกับนางเลิ้งในมุมมองใหม่ ๆ ที่นอกเหนือไปจากการเป็นย่านเมืองเก่า ได้พลิกมุมมองของผู้คนที่มีต่ออาคาร สถาปัตยกรรมเก่าที่ไม่ได้ใช้งานแล้ว ให้เป็นพื้นที่ที่มีคุณค่าต่อย่านและคนในชุมชนต่อไป เราคาดหวังว่าจากการจัดนิทรรศการในครั้ง จะสามารถสร้างแรงบันดาลในให้กลุ่มศิลปินที่จะเข้ามาในย่าน เพื่อสร้างสรรค์งานศิลปะในมุมมองใหม่ ๆ และทำให้โรงเรียนแห่งนี้จะไม่เป็นเพียงโรงเรียนเก่า แต่จะได้รับการมาเยี่ยมชมและใช้งานอย่างหลากหลายต่อไปในอนาคต
The project aims to rejuvenate the unused Satri Chulanak School, an old school in the Nang Loeng neighborhood, by organizing an exhibition that creates a new and unique experience through the use of Experience and Interactive lighting design by the artist group Kimbab :) and friends. The exhibition invites visitors to reminisce about their school days.
Through this Enlighten Nang Loeng exhibition presented by FORD, visitors have the opportunity to see Nang Loeng from a fresh perspective beyond its identity as an old town. The exhibition transforms people's perception of abandoned buildings and architectural heritage, turning them into valuable spaces for the neighborhood and its residents. We hope that this exhibition will inspire artists to come to the neighborhood and create art in new perspectives, making the school not just an old institution but a place to be visited and utilized in various ways in the future.
งานสัปดาห์การออกแบบกรุงเทพ Bangkok Design Week 2023 จึงเป็นอีกหมุดหมายสำคัญที่ทำให้ผู้คนจากหลากหลายพื้นที่ได้เข้ามาเยี่ยมชมและเรียนรู้ย่านนางเลิ้งใหม่ ผ่านงานศิลปะและงานออกแบบ เปิดมุมมองและโลกทัศน์ที่มีต่อย่านเมืองเก่าว่าสามารถเป็นย่านที่สนุกสนาน มีชีวิตชีวา ปรับเข้ากับสมัยใหม่ และยังคงมีเสน่ห์ที่เป็นเอกลักษณ์ของชุมชนอยู่
The Bangkok Design Week 2023 becomes another significant milestone that allows people from different areas to visit and learn about the new Nang Loeng neighborhood through art and design. It opens up new perspectives and visions for the old town, showing that it can be a vibrant, lively place that adapts to modern times while still retaining the unique charm of the community.
