But this is what you are missing! The Nang Loeng market is huge. With a shrine at the entrance, this market is crowded, with people, food, dessert, and, of course, various recommended restaurants! When I first heard of the Nang Loeng market, what came up to my mind was Thai dessert. Does anybody have the same thought? It is not a surprise why this place is filled with appetizing food. The Nang Loeng market is the first formal land market in Thailand . It has been here for more than 100 years. The food and dessert are reputed to be tasty and mouth-watering in almost every corner here. What does “Nang Loeng” mean by the way? This has to be traced back to the ancient time when Mons were selling jars which were called “E Loeng” and that is considered not polite so people started to call them “Nang Loeng” instead and it is kept that way up until today Open-close :10.00-17.00 PM
ไหน ใครเคยผ่านหรือขับรถผ่านตลาดนางเลิ้งบ้าง ปกติจะขับผ่านบริเวณนี้บ้างบางครั้ง แต่ก็จะหันไปมองตลอดเวลาขับผ่าน แต่ไม่มีความรู้สึกอยากเดินเข้าไป คงไม่มีไรมาก ตลาดคงเล็กๆ แต่เอาจริงๆนะ พอได้มีโอกาสเข้าไป คือแบบโหหห ตลาดใหญ่และมีศาลด้านในด้วย คนนี่เดินให้ควักเลย มีของกินคาว หวาน ร้านเด็ด แต่ตอนแรกที่ได้ยินชื่อตลาดนางเลิ้ง จะนึกถึงขนมไทย ไม่รู้ว่ามีใครนึกไหม แต่ก็ไม่แปลกใจว่าทำไมที่นี่มีแต่ของเด็ดเพราะที่นี่เป็นตลาดบกที่มีการเปิดอย่างเป็นทางการแห่งแรกของประเทศไทย มีอายุกว่า100ปี ทำให้อาหารคาว หวานเป็นที่ขึ้นชื่อว่าอร่อยแทบทุกร้าน แต่เราก็สงสัยว่า นางเลิ้งแปลว่าอะไร จริงๆเมื่อสมัยก่อนมีชาวมอญมาขายตุ่มจะเรียกกันว่า"อีเลิ้ง" แต่มันไม่ค่อยสุภาพจึงเปลี่ยนเป็น"นางเลิ้ง"แทน จนเรียกกันมาถึงทุกวันนี้ วันเวลาเปิด-ปิด: 10.00-17.00น.
